Historic Civil War “USS Monitor” Thermoplastic Case
c. 1865 Civil War Era, 9th Plate Thermoplastic case with Depiction of the “USS Monitor”, Choice Extremely Fine.
This original, Civil War Era Thermoplastic Case measures about 3” x 2.5”. The case shows the famous Union Navy “Ironclad” USS Monitor underway just outside a Union Fort, both flying an American Flag. The impressed USS Monitor Images are the same on both front and back. Clasp and hinges both in working order. Green felt intact as well as the maker’s printed insert Patent dated 1857. A lovely example.
