Greece, Magna Graecia / South Italic Colonies, ca. 4th to 3rd century BCE. A petite pottery oinochoe with a footed base, a spherical body, a single applied strap handle conjoining body to a tubular neck, a narrow mouth, and a flared rim. The body, base, and rim are detailed with red-painted circular bands atop a creamy yellow ground, making this an uncomplicated yet attractive example from antiquity! Size: 3.375" H (8.6 cm).
Provenance: private Carlton collection, Los Angeles, California, USA, acquired between 1965 and 1980

Condition
Repair to area of rim, and area of restoration to rim with light resurfacing and overpainting. Age-commensurate surface wear, small chips to handle, base, body, and rim, with light fading to pigmentation. Nice earthen and mineral deposits throughout.
