Description
Native American, Pacific Northwest, Tlingit or possibly Haida, ca. early 20th century CE. A carved wooden speaker's staff with a handle thickly-wrapped in leather cord, capped by a magical, anthropomorphic/zoomorphic face. A thick strand of black horse hair hangs from the back of the head, while a thin strand hangs down from the bottom of the staff. The staff itself is also carved with a low relief face that has both human and animal qualities above the wrapped leather cord. Size: 2.2" W x 16.1" H (5.6 cm x 40.9 cm); 18.5" H (47 cm) on included custom stand.

Condition
Light surface wear commensurate with age, with a nice patina from age and handling on the handle and leather straps. Hair is in nice condition.
