Description
Native American, Pacific Northwest Coast, Tlingit or Haida, ca. late 19th to early 20th century CE. A wonderful lidded wooden box, hand-carved from six pieces of wood that are sewn together with ties made from animal hide. The five visible faces are all hand-painted with distinct compositions replete with totemic animal faces, stylistic hands, and striking eye motifs - all hand-painted in bold red and black hues. Quite rare! Size: 4.875" L x 14.25" W x 5.125" H (12.4 cm x 36.2 cm x 13 cm)
