Description
Native American, Pacific Northwest (probably southern Alaska), Tlingit people, ca. 1930 to 1940s CE. A fascinating cedar rattle with a carved face on it, abalone shell discs inlaid as eyes, and painted black and red details. The long handle is wrapped with twine and there is an incised symbol that looks like a stylized house on the base. Still functional! Size: 3.5" W x 11.25" H (8.9 cm x 28.6 cm); 12.5" H (31.8 cm) on included custom stand.
