Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Colima, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. Three hand-built terracotta whistles in different zoomorphic guises: a bird with elaborately styled plumage on its head, applied round eyes, a protruding pointy beak, wings with tips touching behind, just above the tailfeathers where it is perforated to create the whistle's blow hole; a turtle-like creature wearing a blanket that was incised with a fabulous textile-inspired design on its shell and surprisingly possesses a bird-like head; and last but not least, a lizard-like reptilian with delineated scales, coffee bean shaped eyes, and a pointed tail. All three are in excellent condition and produce musical pitches! Size: 3.125" L x 2.375" W (7.9 cm x 6 cm)

All with expected surface wear and mineral deposits. Lizard has a small chip to back. Turtle has small chip to back and one foot. All whistles work well.
