Item Details
Description
Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Colima, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. Definitely a conversation starter: a hollow pottery figure that functions as a whistle and is dominated by an enormous phallus. The artist invites you to blow on his engorged member to create music. Although the man is posed standing, he may have originally been made to lie down, with one arm posed behind his head. He wears elaborate jewelry and also has a mustache as well as what appear to be two satchels. Every impression is given that this is a wealthy and powerful - in more ways than one - man. Size: 5.5" W x 8.2" H (14 cm x 20.8 cm)
