Native American, US Southwest, Arizona/Utah border, Ancestral Puebloan (Anasazi), also called the Kayenta in this region, ca. 1150 to 1300 CE. A beautiful black-on-white pottery bowl with its interior painted in a dizzying, ornate motif of checks, lines, curves, and zigzags. Bowls like these were first noted by people of European descent in 1909, when the Wetherills and a University of Utah professor, Byron Cummings, discovered a ledge house and a great deal of scattered, broken pottery around it. Size: 9.25" W x 3.95" H (23.5 cm x 10 cm)
