Description
Three assorted official White House menus from November 1961. Included is one dinner menu, dated November 7, 1961, on cardstock with beveled gold edges, and two menus dated November 13, 1961, one on cardstock with beveled gold edges and one, which served as the facsimile, printed on heavy weight cream paper. Both are 6.5 x 4".

On November 7, 1961, President Kennedy and First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy hosted a dinner in honor of Prime Minister of India Jawaharlal Nehru and his daughter Indira Gandhi.

On November 13, 1961, the President and the First Lady gave a dinner in honor of Governor and Mrs. Muonoz of Puerto Rico.

These items come directly from the Hirschy family. Lieutenant Hirschy was Supply and Logistics Officer for the Military Aides to the President and Officer-in-Charge of the Navy Mess in the White House during both the Kennedy and Johnson administrations. His duties also included taking care of the President’s needs on overseas trips, aboard the presidential yachts and at Camp David. Lt. Hirschy served in the White House from May 1, 1961 through May 31, 1965.
