Description
Pre-Columbian, late Olmec to proto-Mayan period, ca. 500 to 200 BCE. A well-preserved pottery figure depicting a pregnant woman from a rarely represented artistic period. The figure sits, cross-legged, with one hand held to her chest, the other to her stomach. Her head is forward, her eyes pierced and large above a well-shaped nose with nose ring. Atop her head is a decorative headdress held in place in front of her large ears. Size: 2.45" L x 3.5" W x 5.85" H (6.2 cm x 8.9 cm x 14.9 cm)
