Description
Pre-Columbian, Guerrero, Mexico, Mezcala style, ca. 300 BCE. This is a carved stylized stone figure with hands grasping maize and a stalk down his back; he has angular cuts to denote facial features and other parts of his body. The figure is made from a grey-specked greenstone cobble. Greenstone figures are some of our only evidence for the Mezcala culture; their purpose is unknown. Size: 1.85" W x 2.9" H (4.7 cm x 7.4 cm)
