Description
This is a wonderful Hudson Bay Fur Trade Co. (possibly Quebec) Beaver Tail Dag Knife from the Columbia River Native American Indians. The piece is from circa early 19th century. The knife shows the iconic Beaver Tail Dag design and exquiste craftsmanship. The piece shows a double notch pattern on the blade with the top notch being squared off and the bottom notch being rounded. The blade is marked, "HB. The dag shows a wood handle with copper and iron spots. The blade also has a Revolutionary War Spontoon Blade like pattern. The piece has an unsharpened blade. The dag measures 13 5/8"L with a 7 1/8"L blade that is 1 7/8"W. Provenance: From a large private North West Montana collection.
