Kentucky/Ohio Civil War Commemorative Line Sword Cincinnati, 19th century, inscribed "The Carter Dry Goods Company, May, 1898", on verso "Lt. Austin Wheeler Hyde, Co. C, 1st Reg Ky Vol", folding clamshell hilt decorated with a spread eagle, blade is engraved steel, scabbard with three gilt mounts and three rings, 30 in. Considered a Foot and Officer's Sword. Some rust. Weight 3 pds, PROVENANCE: Gippy Plantation, Berkeley County. SC.
