Description: Research indicates that the photograph was taken in Guthrie, Oklahoma Territory, 1889 by D. S. Mitchell. Depicted are two lines of what appears to be hundreds of men waiting to vote. In the background is an encampment scene with a vast number of tents. A man on horseback holds up the U.S. American Flag. Note this is a period copy shot of the original photograph mounted on board.

Cabinet Card is a type of photograph printed very thin and mounted on a card. It was widely used for photographic portraiture after 1870, and reached peak popularity in 1880's. It was large enough to be seen from across a room, and was often put on display in a cabinet. This is how it earned the name, cabinet card.
