Description
A pair of before & after studio CDV portraits of a child. Winona, Minnesota: Hoard & Tenney, n.d. Each with photographer's imprints to mount versos.

Two CDV views showing the apparent successful removal of a goiter from child's neck. In the latter half of the 19th century, new surgical methods drastically decreased the mortality rate of such procedures.

Important photographic documentation of progress made in 19th century medicine.
