Description
[Native American] Chief Mad Wolf Cabinet Card
Albumen cabinet card photograph. No backmark
Full-length studio portrait of Cheyenne Chief Mad Wolf standing in front of a painted background. He wears Western-style clothing with a cravat tied high around his neck. A straw hat with a ribbon brim is suspended from his bent arm. The positive identification of the subject comes from a comparison with an Arapaho and Cheyenne Delegation group photograph.
Chief Mad Wolf is best remembered for being among the Cheyenne warriors engaged at the Battle of Little Big Horn in 1876.
