Description
** A portion of the proceeds from the sale of this lot will benefit The Fowler Museum at UCLA **

Mexico, 19th century CE. This is a large wooden folk art figure of a friendly-faced horse and a rider with small features aside from an extremely prominent nose and brow. The rider is dressed entirely in red; there is no clear saddle. The figure seems to once have had more fragile touches, like reigns and the horse's ears (which appear to have been made of felt). Size: 18" L x 4.25" W x 18.75" H (45.7 cm x 10.8 cm x 47.6 cm)

Provenance: ex-Morgan Collection, Santa Monica, CA.

All items legal to buy/sell under U.S. Statute covering cultural patrimony Code 2600, CHAPTER 14, and are guaranteed to be as described or your money back.
