**Originally Listed At $800**

North America, Mexico, late Spanish Colonial to early Mexican Republic, ca. first half of the 19th century CE. An elegant horse bridle with a framework composed of thick leather straps and an iron horse bit. The iron bridle arms are inlaid with dozens of silver stripes, and two discoid roundels bear finely detailed foliage in 82% silver. The ends of two lateral leather straps are fastened with 88% silver buckles and buttons that hold the attachment rings of the chains used to hold the reins. Horse bridles like this are an eccentric addition to any horse-owner's equestrian ensemble. Size: 23" L x 6.75" W (58.4 cm x 17.1 cm); quality of silver: 82% (roundels) and 88% (buckles).
