South America, Argentina & Chile, Mapuche culture, ca. 19th to early 20th century CE. A collection of 8 high quality 87% to 90% silver fittings that were used as part of a bridle or tack for a riding. The Mapuche adorned their prized horses in colorful textiles and ornate horse tack - such as these silver fittings, which would draw attention to the wealth and status of the horse rider. Size of largest: 1.25" L x 0.75" W (3.2 cm x 1.9 cm); silver quality: 87% to 90%; weight: 82.6 grams
