DESCRIPTION: An album containing sixty finely executed pen, ink and watercolor drawings of India, Afghanistan and Pakistan on wove and laid paper, each within a color-ruled border, comprising buildings, royalty and occupations. Many titled under the image by the artist whose name is signed on the front free endpaper (Percy Chabl?). Mounted at edges into a tooled leather album. Various watermarks including Britannia to the front free endpaper, Rhoads & Sons, Mercantile, and a crest with crown and horn. Circa 1830-1850. Images include Maharajab Bunjeet Singh, Dhuleep Singh and his wife, Sheer [sic] Singh (Sher Singh, King of Lahore), Dost Ali Akbar Khan (son of Dost Mohammad Khan), Gholab [sic] (Gulab) Singh, Moolraj of Mooltan, the Fort of Lahore, Delhi, the Tag Agra, Shalimar Gardens Meean Meer, figures smoking hookahs, cloth dyers, jugglers (snake charmer), acrobats, Persian water wheel, weavers, shoemaker, fruit seller, Seik [sic] soldier, and many more. MEASUREMENTS: Sheets 9-1/2" x 7-1/2". Album overall 9-3/4" x 8". CONDITION: Minor browning to edges of sheets. Minor overall uniform toning. Moolraj portrait with 1" edge tear.
