Description
Pre-Columbian, Western Mexico, Jalisco, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. A very rare and fascinating pottery dog. Created in the style commonly referred to as sheep face, with very elongated nose, alert ears with added ear spools, body posed in abbreviated "downward dog", body and face decorated with added red pigment. Size: 4"H x 5"L.
Provenance: Ex-private Houston, TX collection acquired between 1989 and 1999 at local auction houses and art galleries.
