Description
Pre-columbian Mixtec Bowl from Mexico, ca. 1000-1500 A.D. Decorated in painted colors of red, black, white and red on orange ground. Two circles around the bottom followed by a white painted step pattern and a tidal wave design at the top. A very curious and rare piece as it seems to be influenced by various cultures. This type of paint is typically found on Michoacan or Chinesco type pieces and the design is more Maya. A very unusual and one of a kind piece. Unlikely to find another like it. Nice deposits on the surface.
