Pre-Columbian, Mexico, Michoacan, Tzintzuntzan style, ca 1000 to 1400 CE. Rare and fabulous large pottery jar. Vessel with widened base decorated with two bands of red slipped designs including running birds and "shields" with negative resist black designs throughout. An amazing jar! Size: 8-3/4" D x 5-3/4" H.
Provenance: Ex-Houston, Texas collection acquired at local auction or art gallery between 1982 and 1999.
