Barney 3 rd Assistant Engineer Mothers brother Buried on shore at Cantrus Bay (Likely Shchastya Bay) Cross marks grave 1868 St. Herman Russia. Imprint of Freeman & Coffin, Nantucket, Mass. With green Washington bust 2 cent U.S. Inter. Rev. Proprietary stamp on reverse. Could fine nothing about this U.S.N. officer or why an American would be buried on Russia east coast in 1868. Condition VG.
