A large North German silver tankard with cover, circa 1700Silver. On round, domed foot with flared rim. Foot with embossed shell décor. The exterior of the cylindrical body with an engraved frieze of three warriors with sword and shield, fighting against a unicorn and a stag. Surmounted by a trim of mascarons and foliate masks. Domed hinged lid with three embossed putti. Shell thumbpiece and large C-shaped handle with shield terminal. Unmarked. Underside with traces of an inscription. Dimensions 21 x 19 x 14.5 cm.
