A late Romanesque gilt bronze and champlevé enamelled French plaque of Samson fighting the lion, probably Limoges, 13th centuryBronze, the front with fire gilding. Openwork centre with a depiction of Samson in mortal combat with the lion in half relief. With a ribbon border on a blue enamelled background. Four drill holes to attach the plaque. Defects in the enamel. Diameter 8 cm.Condition: II -
