Description
An Austro-Hungarian sabre for officers of the Hussars, 2nd half of the 18th centuryBeautifully preserved, sturdy single-edged blade with fuller on each side and upswept double-edged point, the base of the blade etched with coat of arms of the Kingdom of Hungary on the obverse. Brass knuckle-bow hilt with grip covered with black leather (rubbed, minor flaws in the leather), a star-shaped decorative rivet on each side, the grip cap decorated on top with rocailles in relief. In a scabbard with black leather cover (pressure marks, isolated small flaws in the leather), wooden centre and brass fittings, both sides decorated in relief with oval cartouches, each with four leaves branching off, two movable suspension rings. Slightly damaged in places, traces of age. Length 100 cm. Utility weapon of the light cavalry of high-quality craftsmanship.Condition: II
