New Hampshire Federal Birch Tall Case Clock, Levi Hutchins, Concord, Circa 1800. The hood with molded arched cornice surmounted by a fretwork panel and brass eagle, flanked by reeded plinths and brass spire finials, the door inlaid with wriggle-work borders and flanked by free-standing reeded columns, opening to a white painted iron clock face with black Roman numerals, Arabic subsidiary seconds ring and calendar aperture, painted in the lunette with a bird in a landscape and with red, white and blue shield spandrels issuing raised gold foliate scrollwork, above the molded panelled case door, inscribed in chalk on the interior "Price $15" and flanked by engaged reeded quarter columns, the string-inlaid base section with scalloped apron on French feet, the back of the movement affixed with remnants of a paper label for the painted dial producer Samuel Curtis, printed "MANUFACTURED/ BY/ SAMUEL CURTIS/ BOSTON," with pendulum, two weights and a winder. H: 88.25 in., W: 19.75 in., D: 10.25 in.
