Description
A New England Federal Walnut Tall Case Clock, Early 19th Century. The white-painted arched dial having Roman hours and Arabic minutes, the arch and spandrels decorated with gilt heightened urns and foliates, with subsidiary seconds dial, the twin train movement striking on a bell. The arched dome hood with pierced cornice and brass finials, the waist with quarter columns above a molded box base with shaped skirt and bracket feet.
Dimensions: Height 90 1/4in; width 20 1/2in; depth 10 1/2in.
Condition
Structurally sound. The case in an overall skimmed / refinished condition. Shrinkage and age cracks. Possible replacements and repairs throughout. The clock's painted dial is likely replaced with a period dial, there is no mechanism for the date aperture on the clock's movement. The dial with heavy craquelure, losses and touch-up. Dust accumulation to the case throughout. The clock was maintaining power and striking correctly at the time the condition report was conducted. With two weights, pendulum, winding crank and case key. We cannot guarantee the completeness or functionality of the clock's movement.
