Item Details

Description

An American federal maple and birch tall case clock mounted on bracket base, circa 1800. The bonnet with an arched top having brass finials flanking the central figure of a brass spread wing eagle mounted on plinth - this clock was sold in our last sale, but the bonnet was dropped after the sale so the sale was voided. The wooden parts that were broken were glued in place so the bonnet is now with restoration and is evident where glue was applied (see photos). Also, the glass is broken on the door and has not been replaced. The clock works and case were not damaged. The face is hand painted with floral design with days of the month on display - slight paint chips across the border of arched top, else very good condition - the works are brass and signed "Wilson" on the back plate - appears in good condition but the clock has not been running and has not been tested at the hall. The figured maple clock case has a bracket base which appears to be original and is in very good condition with no damage. It measures 20 1/4"W x 10 1/2"D x 90"H. The clock is refinished, the minute hand is short so either with a break on the terminal or a replacement, and the works appear in good condition but with replaced weight wires. Includes weight and pendulum which were in the clock when we removed it from the house, but unsure if original.
