Rare pot à sucre couvert octogonal en porcelaine de Meissen KPF, circa 1722-23

A rare early Meissen KPF octagonal sugar bowl and cover, circa 1722-23

Painted on each side with a landscape vignette depicting Cupid, within a gilt quatrelobe cartouche with Böttger lustre and edged with iron-red scrollwork, each end painted with three birds in iron-red, the cover with two similar views of Cupid in a landscape, enclosed by an iron-red patterned border and a band of gilt scrollwork, gilt-edged rims, 11cm across, K[önigliche]. P[orzellan] .F[abrik]. in underglaze-blue (faint haircrack to one side) (2)

There is an approx. 5.5cm faint haircrack to one side: starting from one canted edge and extending in a flat curve down across one cartouche (becoming fainter) where it terminates in the centre.
There is a very small flat chip to the underside of the footrim of the sugar bowl.
There are some typical tiny scuffs to the gilt cartouches and lustre at the widest point of the box.
There are tiny spots of wear to the gilding on the corners of the rim of the cover, and a small area of wear to the top of the gilt finial.
Otherwise in good condition.
