A typed letter from Theodore Roosevelt III (1887-1944), eldest son of President Theodore Roosevelt, to Sargent David Friesel. 1p, measuring 7.25" x 10.5", New York City, dated March 9, 1926. Boldly signed as "Theodore Roosevelt" at conclusion, he opens by addressing Friesel as "Comrade". Flattened letter folds and uneven surface toning present, with small tear at top left corner. Else, very good.

Reading in full: "Many thanks for your very nice letter of welcome. It was a great trip,- interesting and successful, and I feel as fit as a fighting cock. When I get to Washington next, I shall certainly let you know."

Theodore Roosevelt III, often known as Theodore Jr., was an American government, business, and military leader. The eldest son of President Theodore Roosevelt and First Lady Edith Roosevelt, he is most known for his World War II service, including the directing of troops at Utah Beach during the Normandy landings, for which he received the Medal of Honor. On July 12, 1944, a little over one month after the landing at Utah Beach, Roosevelt died of a heart attack in France at the age of 56.
