Description
Typed letter with General J.B. Gordon's original signature, plus rarely found Pine Mountain, Cobb County, GA General Polk monument button and UCV 14th Reunion Georgia Division ribbon. Attached to the button by the top of the ribbon placed under the metal ring holding the pin back. General Polk Monument Committee announcing his willingness to attend the monument unveiling at Pine Mountain Georgia. Letter dated June 11th, 1902. General Gordon was a Democrat in the Senate representing Georgia from 1873-1880 and 1891-1897. From 1886-1890, he was Governor of Georgia.
Condition
Letter has a few splits on folds. None affecting signature or wording. Letter was folded to fit into a small envelope thus showing folding lines. Ribbon is separating throughout, still mostly complete letter, h. 10.5", w. 8",button, 1.562" dia. ribbon, l. 4.5", w. 2",
