1789 Signer of the Declaration Twice Signed, Samuel Huntington, Connecticut Governor Legal Document
SAMUEL HUNTINGTON (1731-1796). Signer of the Declaration of Independence, President of the Continental Congress (1779-1781), considered as the First President of the United States under the Articles of Confederation in Congress Assembled, 18th Governor of the State of Connecticut.
January 30, 1789-Dated, Manuscript Document Signed twice, "Saml. Huntington Governor", measuring 7.25" x 12", 1 page, Norwich, (CT), Very Fine. Also written in Huntington's hand, "Dated at Norwich the 30th day of January 1789" just above his signature. This Document is a summons sent to the sheriffs in Woodstock, Windham County to arrest Caleb Grosvenor, in order to recover a sum owed to another individual. Docket on back. Boldly written and Twice Signed at the bottom in deep rich brown, "Certified S. Huntington Gov." and also, "Saml. Huntington Governor".
