1791 Gov. Thomas Mifflin Manuscript Document Signed General Assembly Acts respecting Auctions and Auctioneers
THOMAS MIFFLIN (1744-1800). President of the Continental Congress, American Continental Army Major General, 1st and 3rd American Revolution Quartermaster General, Member of the Pennsylvania Provincial Assembly, Continental Congressman, Constitutional Convention Delegate of 1787, a "Founding Fathers," Speaker of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, President of the Pennsylvania Supreme Executive Council, and the First Governor of Pennsylvania.
February 26, 1791-Dated Federal Period, Manuscript Document Signed, "Tho Mifflin" as Governor, 1 page (plus Integral Transmittal Cover) and red wax seal intact, measuring 8.5" x 7.25", Philadelphia (PA), Choice Extremely Fine. Mifflin writes, "To the Senate and House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania..." in which he confirms his signing an Act, "A Further Supplement to the Several Acts of the General Assembly respecting Auctions and Auctioneers. The original red wax seal under which this was sent is still attached, small tear away of paper on blank 2nd page where opened. Subsequently docketed for filing and storage on the transmittal page. Written on fine, clean laid period paper with a large British watermark. Overall, in lovely quality written in rich brown with a deep dark bold brown large signature "Tho Mifflin" measuring over 2.75" long at the conclusion.
