Description
Civil War import large bore Austrian Model 1854 cavalry carbine, perfect for display with Confederate cavalry gear. One of the rarer import carbines.Manufactured in 1859 in Maastricht and marked with the small King William government proof marks throughout, crown/HL/59 on the lock, 1859 on the upper left barrel flat. Features fixed sights, rifled bore, distinctive loop hammer, and a saddle ring on the left on an extension off of the side plate. These carbines were known to have heavy recoil.
Searching the web I see Shiloh Relics has one offered this week at $1,850.00. I see one sold at Rock Island Auction for a bit over $900 six years ago. These are very scarce and do not come on the market often. No Reserve.
