Description
Pre-Columbian, North Coast of Peru, Moche, Phase IV, ca. 450 to 700 CE. A hand-built, two-part pottery mold used for creating stirrup vessels with broad bodies and cylindrical spouts. Each half of the mold would be lined with a layer of pottery before being closed together and baked. The resulting vessel could then be painted to the artist's liking. Size (larger half): 3" L x 5.5" W x 6.9" H (7.6 cm x 14 cm x 17.5 cm)

Condition
Larger half repaired with adhesive along break lines, and smaller with loss to top of spout, otherwise both are in great condition. Nice preservation to overall forms.
