Carl Jung Superb Signed Letter Re: "the Trinity" and "Satan"

Autograph Letter Signed, "C.G. Jung", in German, 2pp on a single sheet of his personal letterhead, 8.25" x 5.75" (folded), "Locarno Hotel du Parc", March 30, 1947. Includes full translation. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope, addressed in Jung's hand. Very minor wear, in near fine condition.

Jung writes to his mentee, the psychoanalyst Dr. Rivkah Scharf Kluger, in part: "Finally I am able to tell you that the Trinity paper is done, not completely finished, not yet copied and corrected, but still - it is completed. It cost me much additional mental work and increased considerably in size. The title of the whole book is Symbolism of the Spirit. Contents: 1. On the Psychology of the Spirit. 2. The Spirit Mercurius. 3. Dr. Phil R. Scharf: Satan. 4. Psychology of the Trinity."

Jung then adds a lengthy postscript, apologizing for being absorbed in his work and neglecting to timely respond to the doctor's letters, and asking whether her "Satan manuscript is ready".

Apart from Freud, Carl G. Jung (1875-1961) is arguably the most influential psychoanalyst of the 20th century, with his influence extending to literature, anthropology, religious studies, and psychiatry. Jung was also an artist, craftsman, builder and prolific writer. Many of his works were not published until after his death and some are still awaiting publication.

Rivkah Scharf Kluger (1907-1987) was a Swiss psychoanalyst who was born in Bern but lived in Zurich from the age of two. She received her doctoral degree in Semitic Languages and Religious History from the University of Zurich. Kluger trained directly with Carl G. Jung while in graduate school. Her dissertation on "Satan in the Old Testament" was later published as a book. Kluger practiced for many years in Los Angeles and taught seminars all over the world on mythology and biblical stories. She moved with her husband to Israel in 1969, where she continued practicing and teaching at various Jungian training centers.
