Description
An early Victorian sterling silver mounted amethyst glass ewer or claret jug, London 1839 by Charles Reily and George Storer The body of ovoid panelled form upon a spreading circular foot, the neck mounted with shaped edge and pouring lip leading to a lead capped C scroll handle with a maple leaf lower junction, a curved scroll section adjoining the neck mounted to a girdle. The hinged domed lid of conforming shape surmounted by a pyramidal finial. The mounts with engraved decoration of foliate C scrolls and lattice work reserves, repeated to the lid. Fully marked to the neck mount and part-marked to the lid, the leaf junction stamped 289. Height – 31 cm / 12.25 inches
