Description
John Ericsson (1803-1889) Autographed CDV. Ericsson was born in Langbanshytten, Sweden. He was a mechanical and naval engineer who developed many ship engines and nautical designs, becoming partners with American engineer Robert F. Stockton. Ericsson emigrated to the U.S. in 1839. During the Civil War he would invent the ironclad, USS Monitor, and would build other ships for the Union. CDV measures 2 1/2" X 4 1/8". The Larry Mangus Collection, Corinth, Mississippi. Condition- CDV is in good condition with some toning. The autograph is very faint. See photos.
