Description
Two vintage swords. The first a Civil War cavalry sword with scabbard, signature partially obscured by leather washer at ricasso, marked with Roman numeral "VIII" - some surface rust to blade, and nicks to blade edge - the scabbard piece that holds the sword in place at the mouthpiece, is loose (see photos) - total size within scabbard 43 1/2"L; the second, a fraternal Knights of Pythias sword with scabbard - the hand guard marked FCB (representing the 3 cardinal principles for the order - FRIENDSHIP, CHARITY, and BENEVOLENCE) - probably late 19th century - total sword length in scabbard 38 1/4"L - some paint loss to the scabbard, otherwise good original condition.
