Description
Chinese fan painting after Ding Yanchen (Chinese, 1829-1873), ca. 1860-1870. Ink and color on paper depicting a flowering branch with calligraphy along the right edge. With a red seal along the right edge below the calligraphy. Housed in a frame under glass.

Condition
Fan shows numerous areas of damage and wear from use as a fan. The fan has been mounted on a piece of paper, which shows extensive foxing, visible by shining a light through the paper fan one can see several repairs there appear to be some minor losses to the top edge of the fan. Paper shows numerous creases as associated with fans that were actually used and unmounted.
