Chinese Fan Painting After Zhou Zhiyuan
Chinese Fan Painting After Zhou Zhiyuan
Item Details
Description
Chinese fan painting after Zhou Zhiyuan (Chinese, 17th century; late Ming). Ink and color on paper depicting a flower branch with pink blossoms. With calligraphy and a red seal along the right edge. Housed in a frame under glass.

Provenance: The collection of Bruce Dayton and Ruth Stricker Dayton - Selections from The Marsh, Minnetonka, Minnesota.

Sight; height: 9 in x width: 19 1/2 in. Framed; height: 15 in x width: 25 in.
Condition
The fan has been affixed to a paper backing. Some losses to the gilt and painted decoration throughout. No apparent restorations, rips, tears, or creases. Creases and tears to the paper backing along all corners and edges, not visible when the matboard is present. The paper backing is hinged along the top right corner; the hinge has come loose along the top left corner. There is a tideline along the lower edge of the matboard and paper backing; this does not seem to affect the fan itself. Light wear to the frame; framed under glass.
