Description
5 bone daggers, Suki or Zemakani peoples, Middle Fly River, Western Province, Papua New Guinea. Of typical form for the region, three of the daggers bearing reddened tops as was traditional among the Suki, one completely plain and one with light incising. Bone daggers from the Middle Fly River, are quite rare and infrequently found in collections. They were used as weapons as well as for utilitarian purposes. Acquired by Marc Seidler from George Craig, C. 1980; field collected by Craig C. 1966. Each Bone Dagger measures an average length of 12 inches.
