Description
Provenance: Property from the Saul Brandman Foundation. Beverly Hill, California. Vase in red tone Sumida pottery fabrication, circa Meiji period. Country of origin: Japan. Thisvase has a drip glaze design on the surround in tone of ebony, blue, and white. The body of the vase is pinched, and the surround is flared. There is an applied pottery design of three figures: a seated male elder figure on the left, a standing male elder figure with a bowl in his hand in the center, and a seated female child figure on the right. There is an applied porcelain plaque on the back that is signed in Japanese characters by the artist Ishiguro Koko. This vase measures 8.5inches tall by 4.25 inches in diameter Provenance: Property from the Saul Brandman Foundation.
