Description
Provenance: Property from the Saul Brandman Foundation. Beverly Hill, California. Bowl in red tone Sumida pottery fabrication, circa Meiji period. Country of origin: Japan. Thisbowl has a multi-color drip glaze design on the surround in ebony with mottled tones of blue, brown, and white. The surround is scalloped with a flared lip, and there is an impressed thumbprint design on the surround of the body.There is an applied pottery design of two female figures with their hands placed on the surround. There is an applied porcelain plaque on the bottom that is signed in Japanese characters by the artist Ishiguro Koko. This bowl measures3.5 inches tall by 6.5 inches in diameter. Provenance: Property from the Saul Brandman Foundation.
