Pre-Columbian, Ecyador, La Tolita- Tumaco c.350 BC.350 AD. Size 7 7/8 inches high. A fine hand-formed figure depicting a seated Shaman wearing a decorated shawl. The Shaman wears and elaborate headdress and spool earrings. The facial features are prominent with almond shaped eyes, large partedlips and stout nose. Traces of red and orange pigment are visible.This type of figure was typical for use in ceremonies and funeral burials.
