Description
A fantastic Egyptian bronze statuette of a seated cat, likely 26th Dynasty, c. 664-525 BC, hollow cast and depicted seated in the classic pose with front legs together and tail swept around the right side. Prominent shoulders thrust forward from the curve of the back, and the ears are erect and alert. The cat's left ear has a hole, likely pierced to fit a gold earring. Lovely dark green and chocolate brown patina, and the piece is overall a beautiful example. A pair of mounting tangs on the bottom that fit nicely into the custom fit wooden base. H: 5 7/8 in (15cm).
