With 3 original wheels, marked: (I) A 17867 S, (II) A 17867 S and (III) A 17867 S, each with one notch, reflector wheel marked A 17867 S, without lettering on the housing. - The sequences of the special wirings are: Endplate A to Z continuous, wheel I = IQYUNKDFMPROZXSHGCLVTEBWSA; wheel II = QYMFIUNKOXVTZJHGPLECSWRBDA; wheel III = EHYGUMVIROXTKFQANCJDPBZWSL; reflector wheel (UKW) = BANPHTYEOWMVKCIDZUXFRLJSGQ; standard QWERTZ keyboard of 26 keys, white symbols on black backgrounds, battery switch, plugboard with 16 plug cables, battery casing, in original pressed wood case with original 'Zur Beachtung' instructions inside the lid, minor crack under the keyboard, plugboard tin cover replaced, replica battery, working condition, electrical functions checked, with copy of the manual. - Note: An important example of the legendary World War II ciphering machine developed by Berlin engineer Dr. Arthur Scherbius and first manufactured commercially by the Chiffriermaschinen Aktiengesellschaft Berlin in 1923. So complex was the Enigma, it was considered capable of producing over 22 billion code combinations without a single repetition. According to an early prospectus, "if one man worked continuously day and night and tried a different cipher-key every minute, it would take him 42,000 years to exhaust all combination possibilities." In operation, each keystroke illuminated a different character and caused one or more rotors to shift fractionally, so that a different combination was created every time. Decryption required codebooks and a list of daily key settings.

Code-Kombinationen ohne jede Wiederholung zu produzieren. Bildlich gesprochen hieße das: Wenn jemand jede Minute einen neuen Code benutzt und Tag und Nacht arbeitet, würde man 42.000 Jahre benötigen, um alle Code-Kombinationen auszuschöpfen. - Dieses exzellent funktionierende 3-Walzen-Gerät ist für nichtdruckenden Einsatz bestimmt. Bei jedem Tastendruck leuchtet ein anderes Zeichen auf, das notiert werden muß. Auch der wiederholte Druck auf dieselben Tasten führt immer wieder ein anderes Leuchtzeichen aus, so wie es der eingestellte Code zuläßt.
