Description
Presenting a light weight sheer organdy summer dress with a slight train, dating to 1910 to 1915. One piece in construction. Vertical black and striped purple organdy with woven florals. With a high neck collar and short ¾ fitted sleeves with gathered shoulder caps. Adorned with schiffli embroidered cotton tulle lace front , with embroidered metallic thread purple pansy flowers. Whale baleen stays in neck collar and bodice. Vertical pleating down front ending at waist band. A pleated black satin ribbon band at waist ending with a large bow at back that falls into a very long streamer with knotted fringes. Small jet beads hand sewn at wrist on sleeves.The bodice back has an extensive hook and eye closures. Black silk lining in bodice, no lining in skirt.

Deaccession from the Strong Museum at Rochester, N.Y and still retaining its identification catalog number sewn in tag.

CONDITION:
In very good antique condition. There is NO underarm discoloration. Few small rips to organdy scattered about. An area of trim missing on one cuff. Silk lining in bodice is in good condition. Rip in hem, as seen in photos. Sturdy and strong and wearable.
